Humidity in the apartment

Comfort and favorable conditions for a person in the house are created not only by furniture and good windows - no less important are the temperature and humidity of the air. The humidity in the apartment is characterized by the content of water vapor in it. There is the concept of relative humidity. This value shows how much moisture is not enough in the apartment to start condensation under given environmental conditions and the saturation of air with water vapor. So, let's see what humidity is most comfortable for a person.

Measurement of humidity in the apartment

Humidity in the room changes with the change of the seasons, depends on the vital activity of people in it. To reduce the humidity leads to excessive use of air conditioning or heating batteries. During the rainy season, the humidity in the apartment rises noticeably. In any case, increased or decreased humidity will have a bad effect on the person's health, and on the things around him (from building materials to household appliances).

For a comfortable stay in an apartment, a person needs about 40-60% humidity. With such indicators, the body feels most well.

For constant monitoring, there is a device for measuring the humidity in the apartment. This device is called a hygrometer. To use it is very simple, not more difficult than a thermometer. There are several types of hygrometers:

  1. Hair. It is made on the basis of synthetic hair. It is able to measure humidity in the range from 0% to 100%. You can just hang it on the wall.
  2. Digital thermohygrometer. A more complex device that measures temperature as well. Measures humidity in two places at once: the location of the device itself and the location of the sensor. The length of the cable is 1.5 meters. The measuring range is 0-90%.
  3. Wireless thermohygrometer. Is able to make measurements at several points, if the fall or increase of moisture is excessive, it triggers an alarm. The range is 0-90%.

How to measure the humidity in the apartment, if at hand there is no special device?

Take an ordinary pile and put cold water in it. Put a pile of water in the refrigerator for several hours.

The water temperature will drop to 3-4 ° C. Now you can get hold of the pile and bring it to the room. Place it away from heaters and observe for 5 minutes:

High humidity in the apartment

If the rooms are constantly misted up windows and underwear dries a few days, most likely, you have an apartment with high humidity. Over time, you will notice the appearance of one of the most unpleasant and dangerous problems - mold. On walls or flowers black, red, greenish or gray spots will appear. Mildew spores are present in the air constantly, but it is the increased humidity that gives favorable conditions for the growth of the fungus. It is necessary to deal with this problem very quickly, because mold can cause allergies and many other serious diseases. If the fungus enters the food, it can cause serious food poisoning. The greatest danger from the fungus can be the spread of infection throughout the body. Even in very hot or cold weather, you need to ventilate the apartment at least twice a day.
