Museum of Natural History (Geneva)


It is unlikely that in Switzerland you will find many people who would not have been at the Museum of Natural History in Geneva or the Museum d'Histoire Naturelle de la Ville de Geneve. You can visit this museum absolutely free of charge, and its collection is so extensive that you can come here at least every week and every week it will be interesting. Probably, therefore the museum is visited by about 200 000 people a year.

Exposition of the museum

On a huge area of ​​more than 10 thousand square meters, visitors are met by skeletons of dinosaurs, stuffed animals and birds. Two kilometers of museum corridors are filled with 3,500 representatives of the animal world. Examination of the exposition takes place accompanied by the sounds of nature, the cries of animals and all kinds of rustles and grindings, which creates a sense of reality of everything that is happening around, and it begins to seem that just about the animals will come to life. Also here you can get acquainted with the collection of minerals. There are specimens of both terrestrial and non-terrestrial origin: semiprecious and precious stones, meteorites.

The entire collection of the museum is divided into four floors. The fourth floor is devoted to local geology, the third - to minerals and minerals. The exposition of the third floor will also introduce you to the evolution of man, the second is devoted to the underwater world, the first to the mammal and other animals. Periodically, the museum hosts thematic exhibitions.
