Belarus suffered very badly during the Second World War against the fascist invaders. A large number of people died and most of the settlements were destroyed. That is why the museums of the Great Patriotic War (WWII) are in every city, and Minsk is not an exception.

History of the Museum of the Great Patriotic War in Minsk

The idea of ​​creating the museum arose during the occupation. Therefore, immediately after the end of hostilities for him, a miraculously surviving trade union house was located, which was located on Liberty Square. He opened his doors to visitors in late October 1944. A few years later (in 1966), the State Museum of the Great Patriotic War in Minsk moved to the building at 25 Lenin Avenue.

For many years the museum has not been modernized, therefore, against the background of existing modern exhibition halls, it seemed outdated. As a result, the government decided to build a new building for him.

In early July 2014, a solemn opening of a new complex dedicated to the heroic deed of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War took place. Now the museum of the Great Patriotic war in Minsk is located at: Pobediteley Ave., 8. It is quite easy to get to it, you need to get to the Nemiga metro station, go to the Sports Palace and from there go to the towering stela behind which the exhibition halls are located.

When planning to visit this museum, it is necessary to take into account that it is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 10.00 to 18.00, on Wednesday and Sunday from 11.00 to 19.00. Weekends on Monday, as well as all public holidays. Sale of tickets ends an hour before closing. The cost of tickets for adults is 50,000 Belarusian rubles (with a photo shooting of 65,000), for schoolchildren and students - 25,000 bel. rubles (with a survey of 40000). Free to visit it can children of preschool age, veterans of war, military personnel, invalids, orphans and museum employees.

He begins to surprise, not walking even inside the museum. Its facade is made in the form of beams of salute, on each of which scenes of their war are depicted. In the center stands a stella called "Minsk - Hero City". In order to enter the exhibition halls, it is necessary to go down from it down the stairs with a fountain.

All exhibits are divided by years. In the first two visitors will see an exposition on the theme "Peace and War". In them, on a large sphere, the political situation of that time is shown, and at the stands all the important historical events from the end of the First World War to the beginning of the Second are described.

The next room shows the defense of the Brest Fortress and the beginning of the fascists' offensive against Belarus. He smoothly passes into the pavilion with military equipment. Here you can see the battle of tanks, flying aircraft, military vehicles, field kitchens and various weapons used in that war. Around them are wax figures of people in uniform, music of those times sounds, sounds of shooting and bombardments are heard. Together, it creates the impression that you really ended up in war.

A separate room is provided to illustrate the tragedy of Byelorussia - the burning of villages. Burning huts on the walls, an imitation of smoke, the sound of a bell - all this rarely leaves anyone indifferent. Nearby there is a room telling about the eviction of Jews. It was stylized as wagons, in which they were taken to camps with a small number of things.

Particular attention is paid to the partisan movement in Belarus, which flourished in these places during the occupation. Here their life is shown, documents of some of the underground workers are provided.

Usually ends the tour in the Victory Hall, located under a transparent dome. There is a memorial dedicated to all the dead Belarusians.
