- Nitroglycerin is also effective in myocardial infarction and acute heart failure .
- During surgery surgeons use nitroglycerin to control arterial hypotension.
In addition, sometimes this medicine is used for biliary colic and as a preventive agent in the treatment of diseases of the cardiovascular system.
Like any other medical product, nitroglycerin can not be arbitrarily taken. Even if the doctor has already prescribed this medicine to you before, it is better to consult once again before the next appointment. If the patient's condition is severe, independent use of nitroglycerin in medicine is not recommended categorically. The main indications were considered above, now we will describe the contraindications for the use of nitroglycerin:
- Do not prescribe nitroglycerin to children under the age of eighteen.
Their body is not yet ready to receive such drugs. - It is forbidden to take medicine in any form to people with high sensitivity to nitrates and intolerance to these elements.
- It is dangerous to use nitroglycerin to pregnant women and young nursing mothers.
- Another contraindication to the use of the drug in question is hypotension (low blood pressure).
- With increased intracranial pressure, it is also very dangerous to use nitroglycerin.
