In the large city of Ostrava in the east of the country operates an airport, named after Leosh Janáček, a famous composer. Ostrava Airport is one of the international airports of the Czech Republic , hence regular flights to the Czech capital, to Paris and London. The airport serves the Moravian-Silesian region.

The airport in Ostrava is one of the oldest in the Czech Republic : it has been operating since 1939. In addition to regular flights, it also performs seasonal (from May to October) in many European cities.
Despite the fact that the runway allows almost any aircraft to serve, the passenger traffic of the airport is relatively small - it serves about 260-300 thousand people per year. At the airport there is a helipad.

The new terminal was put into operation in 2006. There is a recreation area for passengers of economy class and a separate one for business class; entrance to both paid. Also in Ostrava airport there are:
- room for mother and child;
- children playground;
- ATMs and currency exchange offices;
- car rental offices;
- information tourist service of Ostrava;
- several cafes;
- duty-free zone.
Near the airport there are several hotels .
How to get from the airport to the city?
The airport is located 25 km from the center of Ostrava. You can get to the city by:
- by rail (the airport is served by the S4 line, tickets can be bought both in the arrival hall and on the train itself, the railway station is next to the departure hall);
- buses Nos. 910-333, 820-150 (stop next to the arrival hall) and 880-670 (its stop is next to the railway station); tickets can be bought directly on the bus; from the airport you can reach not only Ostrava, but also in Brno ;
- taxi : the stand works in the arrivals hall.
