Those who often sew, there are a lot of different shreds. Having mastered the technique of patchwork sewing (patchwork), these trimming fabrics can be used with advantage. The technique of patchwork sewing allows creating exclusive textile products: bedspreads, tablecloths, decorative pillows, wall panels and even clothes. Such things will give the house a unique color and make it cozy. What is necessary?
In order to sew patchwork quilts of standard size (1.5x2.3 m), we will need: 60 square flaps (23x23 cm), a cloth for the back side of the curtain (1.5x2.3 m) and sintepon (1,3x2,1 m), thread under the color of the underside and the dominant flap, a sewing machine, pins, scissors.
Selection of flaps
Before making a patchwork patchwork, we will select the right combination of flaps according to the color scheme.
For a two-tone coverlet, we take 30 monochrome light shreds and 30 dark ones. For example, lemon and caramel color, ivory and dark chocolate, milky pink and burgundy. The texture of the fabric can be any, but the thickness and density of the flaps should be the same.
For multi-colored bedspreads we will select shreds of different colors, but it is better not more than seven colors. One kind of flaps make the leader. So, if a patchwork in the patchwork style is made of 60 pieces of cloth, then the leading ones should be no less than 25.
Preparing for the workflow
To begin with, we prepare the tissues for work: we wash them and iron them well. Cotton fabrics preferably starch, silk - hold in gelatin. This will make the fabric stiffer and it will be more convenient to work with them. It is important that the needle on the sewing machine matches the selected fabric. Adjust the tension of the thread, make a trial stitch.
Making a patchwork overcoat
Having combined two flaps with different colors on the sides, we deviate from the edge 1.5 cm and we spend them. So, changing the colors alternately, we sew a strip of six squares. When there are ten such strips, we smooth out the seams and spend the stripes, stepping from the edge of 1.5 cm. When folding the strips, we follow that the same flaps are staggered.
Further, the sewed patchwork cloth is put face down and we put on it sintepon. Accurately falling into the seams between the square rags, attach the canvas to the sintepon. The result is a beautiful square stitch.
On the quilted details of the wrong side to the wrong side we put the back cloth of the veil. Evenly protruding from all sides of the back fabric we fold by 1.5 cm, sweep and spread out. Corners are sewn by hand and patchwork patchwork is ready!
What kind of patchwork can I make?
Square flaps are the simplest pattern that is suitable for all beginners. As you gain experience, you can complicate the technique of patchwork and combine flaps of different geometric shapes - rectangles, triangles, circles, ovals.
