Perennial enoter - planting and care

As soon as this plant is not called: the "queen of the night", and the "oslinnik", even the "night candle". And all thanks to the beautiful shape of the inflorescence in the form of a glass and bright colors. An amazing feature of these flowers is the blossoming only in the evening. Then they wither for the next day and immediately after the wilted flowers new ones appear.

What is the perennial flower of the evening?

This plant unites about a hundred perennials and they all belong to the family of sprayed ones. Many representatives grow to 130 cm. The leaves are rather simple, but the inflorescences are large and very fragrant, yet elegant in shape and bright.

In most cases on sites there is an enotera shrub perennial with a yellow blossom. Less often grown perennial pink, white and blue, the planting and care for such varieties is more difficult. Excellent looks plant in small group plantings, in compositions for beds. Grow it for bouquets too.

Planting evening primrose

Why do we usually find yellow flowers on our sites? Of course, if you wish, you can always plant a perennial pink, but the landing and leaving will be much more difficult. And no one will guarantee that our soils and weather conditions will work.

If you are still just looking at this plant and do not want to buy a variety that is certainly not capable of growing on the site, it is better to get acquainted with a small list of species that can definitely catch on:

With the choice of the species of the perennial evening primrose we have figured out, we can go on to the question of planting and nursing. In general, it is possible to single out only one most important rule: one can never flood the planting, the overgrown soils do not tolerate waterlogging. In the rest everything is relatively simple:

  1. If in time to loosen the soil and prevent stagnation of water, its composition on the site will not be fundamentally important for this culture. Many make special drainage, taps under the water.
  2. Regardless of the soil on the site, its preparation boils down to weed clearing and fertilization. On each square there are up to three kilograms of humus, in addition make about a couple of tablespoons of nitrophos . After applying the dressing, the area should be thoroughly digged and watered abundantly. It does not matter whether this site is completely open or in the penumbra, the bushes can adapt equally well.
  3. The shrubby perennial enotera does not like crowding. When planting shrubs, it should be noted that a comfortable distance between them is about 30 cm.
  4. With regard to the method of planting, the seedling is preferred. Although the seeds are very small, the germination of their envy is high and even after three to four years they are able to germinate without problems.
  5. In the process of planting and caring for a perennial exotera you will have to multiply bushes. They do it all with the same seeds or division of the bush, which is much simpler and gives the opportunity to preserve varietal features. If you decide to do seedlings, you should start around February or March, but your seedling is sent only in warm May.

Remember that bushes grow quickly and at the expense of a young seedling they easily supplant neighboring cultures. Therefore, all the withered flowers are cut off without regret. And if you decide to use this plant in a composition with other species, be sure to dig in the limiters like slate sheets, so that the flowerbed retains the shape and location of the plants.
