Schizoid personality disorder

Schizoid disorder unites people completely different from each other at first glance, however, with a more careful approach, it becomes obvious that they are all closed, they feel discomfort from communicating with others, their thoughts and feelings are directed to the study of their depths, they are sensitive and vulnerable . At the same time, schizoid personality disorder is observed in both timid and purposeful people, in sparse and wasteful, in severe and dreamy people.

Symptoms

Schizoid disorder is easily seen from the earliest childhood. These children are not inclined to collective games, at the same time, they are allocated not to the years of developed mind, and their thinking is atypical - asking a child a schizoid, you can get a very original coverage of the problem. They are capable in mathematics, natural sciences, characterized by an early developed philosophical thinking. While they have reduced motor activity, schizoids often become pianists, violinists and masters of manual labor. In early childhood, they are characterized by some autism, which by the age of 10 is softened, leaving behind only a mild isolation.

Do not expect from a schizoid danger to the environment, aggression, suicidal tendencies. Symptoms of schizoid personality disorder do not even look like a disease, it rather looks like a personality property.

The most typical for schizoids is the lack of need for communication. They have friends - one or two, but they pick them carefully, looking for those who have all the necessary qualities in one person. With the rest of the schizoid relations purely formal - the surrounding people have the impression that the schizoid is shielded from the whole world by a thin glass wall.

Classification

Schizoid personality disorder is divided into two subtypes - sensitive and expansive schizoids. The division occurs according to the predominance of the patient's sensitivity, or coldness.

Sensitive schizoids are over sensitive people, long experiencing injustice, rudeness, and never forgetting offense. At the same time, they are extremely narcissistic, this feeling is manifested in their own pride. They like to repeat that they forgive everything to others, but never to themselves.

In the workplace, a sensitive schizoid is an ideal employee - conscientious and diligent, engaged exclusively in its narrow focus. However, any conflicts, psychological traumas, suspicions of immorality, lead to the fact that the mental state of the schizoid deteriorates sharply: appetite disappears, sleep is disturbed, there is still greater mistrust and alienation.

Expansive schizoids are business, resolute, rude and cold people. They do not take into account the opinions of the others, they never hesitate, they treat people dryly and without sympathy. With increased difficulties, irritability and sudden attacks of anger increase. External strength actually speaks of inner insecurity and dissatisfaction with oneself.

These schizoids often occupy leadership positions, because they are bilious, cruel and unshakable. Often, as delusions arise delusions of persecution, paranoid reactions and borderline emotional states.

Treatment

Drug therapy is ineffective. For schizoid psychiatry, role games and group trainings are much more useful. Treatment of schizoid personality disorder often begins because of the presence of another disease - alcoholism or drug addiction, since otherwise, the schizoid is all right. During the training, the schizoid is taught to learn positive emotions , social skills are inculcated, although the patient is reluctant to do this, because he is used to avoid unnecessary contacts.
