Sore throat without fever and cold

Usually with acute infections, viral and bacterial, a group of symptoms appears, including hyperthermia, nasal congestion and cough, which allows to diagnose the disease without errors. But sometimes there is a sore throat without fever and a cold, the cause of which is difficult to find out both to the patient and the treating doctor.

Why is there a lot of sore throat without fever?

In most cases, the clinical phenomenon in question is worried only during ingestion of food or drinks due to mechanical irritation of the mucous membranes. Less common complaints are acute pain in the throat without a cold and fever. The reasons for this condition can be:

  1. Tuberculosis of the pharynx. The disease often occurs as a complication of pulmonary tuberculosis , but it can also have a primary form. It is accompanied by the formation of rashes (infiltrates, granulomas) on the mucous membranes of the larynx, which are later resolved and become deep painful ulcers.
  2. Aphthous stomatitis. Pathology is characterized by the appearance on the surface of the palate, gums and tonsils of small erosions, covered with a light dense coating, called aphthae. Unpleasant sensations are present all the time, but intensify when swallowing saliva, eating. As additional symptoms, there is an increase and soreness of the lymph nodes.
  3. The Igla-Sterling syndrome (sililous-sublingual). The exact causes of this disease are unknown, according to one of the most popular versions, it develops due to the elongation of the styloid process. Intensive pain in the throat occurs, as a rule, only on one side, often gives into the nearby ear.

Causes of mild and mild pain in the throat without fever and nasal congestion

If the described symptomatology disturbs only during mechanical irritation of the mucous larynx and pharynx (swallowing, eating spices, hot drinks), it can be provoked by the following conditions:

  1. The presence of a foreign body in the soft tissues of the throat. Most often, the situation in question occurs when using fish dishes, especially with small and thin bones, as well as other seafood (mussels, shrimps).
  2. Chronic tonsillitis. Painful sensations are poorly expressed in this disease, the patient complains of stuffiness, lump in the throat, discomfort during swallowing, a rare short cough.
  3. Hilger's syndrome. This is a very rare disease. The pain is localized only on one side, has no previous symptoms and additional signs, even redness of the mucous membranes. These clinical manifestations are due to the expansion of the branches of the carotid artery.
  4. Chronic pharyngitis. Exacerbations of the disease occur after exposure to negative external factors - hypothermia, prolonged and extremely loud conversations, contact with viruses or bacterial infections.
  5. The defeat of the tonsils against the background of syphilis. This form of pathology is primary, occurs when oral infection with syphilis . It is accompanied by a prolonged moderate pain in the throat without temperature, while the lymph nodes slightly increase, general weakness is observed.
  6. Malignant or benign neoplasm. The first symptoms, unfortunately, appear already in the late stages of tumor development. Among them - a weak, occasionally disturbing soreness of the pharynx.
  7. Gastroesophageal reflux. The disease is characterized by throwing the contents of the stomach first into the esophagus, and then into the throat. Acids irritate mucous membranes, lead to the formation of ulceration.

As follows from the above facts, the reasons for the described signs are too many to try to independently diagnose the disease and treat it. It is especially dangerous to take antibiotics with sore throat without heat, without consulting a doctor. Antimicrobial agents can cause depression of the immune system and the spread of bacterial infection.
