How to make a table top with your own hands?
- First, draw a drawing of the future table. For convenience, it is better to make it out of several parts.
- Next, we make a frame for the table. For reliability, to strengthen the frame, install in the middle of two transverse boards.
- Now we are preparing the mold for pouring concrete. It should be a bit more than the frame, and the joints should fall exactly on the cross planks, otherwise there may be cracks on the table top.
- To make the corners rounded, use the silicone inserts to set the desired radius.
- To strengthen the table top in the form we lay the wire mesh, and also fall asleep decorative filler - broken glass. Our table top will be highlighted from the inside. To do this, we distribute and fix the fiber optic cable uniformly over the area of the mold, and with a plastic tube we make a hole for the wires. To filler and cable are not displaced when pouring concrete, the inner surface of the form is smeared with glue.
- Then fill the mold with concrete. To do this, take the cement and fine sand (1: 3), add water and mix well. Carefully fill the mixture with half the form. To fill the second half, add the glass fiber to the mixture.
- After 2-3 days, when the concrete finally dries, you can disassemble the mold.
- With the help of a manual grinder with a coarse disc, proceed to grinding the concrete slab. We need to remove all irregularities, the remnants of glue and get to the decorative filler.
- We process the surface with an acrylic sealant with the addition of cement. This mixture must be filled with all voids.
- Finally, proceed to polishing the concrete. We do this slowly, periodically wetting polishing wheels, the granularity of which should gradually increase (400, 800, 1500). At the end of polishing, we process the surface with a special sealant.
