Temple of the Immaculate Heart of Mary

The village of Valdrogone, the commune of Borgo Maggiore , was first mentioned in 1253 in a historical chronicle. The two-part village is divided into the lower and upper Valdragona. Its name came from an old legend, according to which here a long time ago there lived a huge dragon, which caused horror and fear for the indigenous people. The literal translation of the name of the village from Italian: Waldragone - "Valley of the Dragon". It was here in the middle of the 20th century that the Temple of Mary's Immaculate Heart was built, which is an important structure and is part of the Mariano Center.

About the Temple

The heart of the Virgin Mary symbolizes the love, mercy and compassion of the Mother of God to people, for the salvation of the souls of which the Virgin prayed ceaselessly. The main part of the Temple of the Immaculate Heart of Mary is the House of St. Joseph, which was erected in 1966. It is here that believers pray, contemplating and training their spirit.

The sanctuary is a rather young architectural object, it hardly resembles a church in appearance, but the structure looks harmoniously in the general architectural picture of the area.
