Description of the lake
Eschinense is located in the Bernese highlands in the canton of Bern. The lake was formed as a result of a landslide, which blocked the water way from the valley. It is surrounded by mountains, which fill it with glacial streams. Approximately from December to May the lake is covered with a film of ice.

Information for tourists
Along the lake there are hiking trails. You can climb here on a special lift from Kandersteg . This recovery will take you 20 minutes. After walking along the tourist routes you can relax in the restaurant by the lake, which offers national dishes of Swiss cuisine .
On Eshinense you can even fish. In the lake there is trout, lake and rainbow, and Arctic char. Fishing is especially popular here from January to April. Also a popular tourist attraction is the toboggan route, stretching from the lake to the lift station.
How to get there?
From the nearest settlements ( Lauterbrunnen , Interlaken ) you can get to the lake in a rented car in just an hour, moving along the A8 highway.
