Because of what can the number of red blood cells increase?
The reasons for the fact that the child is raised red blood cells in the blood, a lot. This condition in medicine was called erythrocytosis. In this case, it is customary to distinguish 2 varieties of such a violation: physiological and pathological increase in the content of erythrocytes.
In the first case, the increase occurs due to any effect on the body, for example, as a result of dehydration. So the lack of fluid in the body leads to a slight increase in these cells in the blood.
However, most often the development of this disorder is caused by diseases, as a result of which the pathological erythrocytosis develops. This can be observed when:
- increased production of red blood cells in the bone marrow (erythremia);
- diseases of the kidneys, lungs, which are accompanied by the release of an increased amount of erythropoietin (kidney tumors, obstructive bronchitis, bronchial asthma);
- lack of oxygen in the body.
The latter is often observed in diseases of the lungs, resulting in the need for the body to compensate for the lack of oxygen by increasing the number of red blood cells that carry it.
Also, red blood cells in the child's blood are increased and with heart defects. In such cases, the arterial blood is partially mixed with the venous blood, which is saturated with carbon dioxide. In order to compensate for the excess of CO2 in the body, a large number of erythrocytes is synthesized.
The norm of the content of erythrocytes in urine and the causes that lead to their increase
Normally, it is considered that when performing a urinalysis, the number of erythrocytes in the test sample should not exceed 2-4. When these figures are exceeded, they say:
- microhematuria - the number of erythrocytes in urine to 20 in the field of vision, visually the color is not changed;
- hematuria - a high number of erythrocytes, which can not be counted, urine acquires a red or brown color.
The reasons for the development of this phenomenon, when the red blood cells in the urine of a child are increased, can be related to:
- diseases of the urinary system itself;
- diseases of other organs and systems of the body, in which the kidneys react in the form of the appearance of erythrocytes in the urine (reactive hematuria).
Thus, in order to determine why red blood cells are raised in a child, the doctor prescribes a complete examination, taking into account the existing chronic diseases.
