Children's Panadol

Every responsible parent wants his child to grow up healthy and never get sick. However, unfortunately, sometimes all the children catch cold, they are tormented by a severe headache and fever. How can you help your child and ease his condition?

To eliminate the most common symptoms of the disease, many pediatricians recommend the use of children's panadol. It is an antipyretic preparation, which, if used correctly, does not have a negative effect on the child's body and is considered to be quite effective medicine. The main substance that is a part of children's panadol is paracetamol. Thanks to him, the drug quickly reduces body temperature, and also alleviates headache, dental and muscle pain.

Panadol - indications for use

Panadol is used to alleviate the condition of children between the ages of 3 months to 12 years. The drug is used at elevated body temperature against influenza, colds and infectious diseases, including chicken pox, parotitis , measles , rubella, scarlet fever. In addition, panadol is used for toothache (including during teething), headaches and earaches, as well as with sore throats.

Children's panadol - the way of application and dosage

Panadol for children is available in the form of syrup and rectal suppositories. The required dosage of the drug is determined by the age and weight of the child. Children's panadol syrup I take orally (inside), shaking the bottle well before use. To the bottle attached a measuring syringe, which allows you to properly dose the drug. According to the instructions, a single dose of the drug in this dosage form is 10-15 mg / kg (based on the fact that 5 ml of the drug contains 120 mg of active substance, this is approximately 0.4-0.6 ml / kg), with an interval between doses less than 4 hours.

Children's panadol in the form of candles is used rectally. Children from 3 months and up to 3 years are prescribed one suppository 3 times a day with an interval of 4 hours.

In rare cases, the pediatrician can prescribe panadol to children under three months of age and the dosage is usually 2.5 ml of the drug.

The duration of the course of treatment the doctor determines separately for each case of the disease. It should be remembered that independent use of the drug for more than three days is not recommended.

Often young mothers ask: what is better than a candle or syrup? Of course, each of the dosage forms has its pros and cons. But I want to note that the candles are faster and as a rule their effect lasts up to 8 hours. In addition, you do not need to force a child to drink an unknown liquid or tablet, the effect of which lasts no more than 3-4 hours. However, a panadol for children in the form of candles should not be used too often, since they are capable of irritating the rectal mucosa. Many pediatricians recommend in the morning and during the day to use syrup, and in the evening - children's candles.

Children's panadol - side effects

Performing the main function of an antipyretic agent and not being an anti-inflammatory drug, in most cases, panadol is well tolerated by a child's body. In rare cases, an allergic reaction is possible, which is manifested by redness, skin rash and itching. According to the instruction on infant syrup, a response from the gastrointestinal tract is possible: abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea.

It is important to follow the clear instructions of the child's doctor and the accompanying instructions. Only in this case you will be able to quickly achieve the desired effect without any consequences.
