The mole has inflamed

It should be borne in mind that moles are skin areas most exposed to external influences, so they can become inflamed and degenerate into malignant tumors.

Causes of inflammation of moles

Among the factors influencing the development of inflammation, the following are distinguished:

  1. Mechanical damage to the skin (scrapes, scratches, cuts). Since the immunity of the skin in such places is usually lowered, the probability of getting into the wound infection is high, in which the mole and the skin around it inflame and blush. Inflammation of moles due to this reason often occurs on the neck, arms, in the armpits.
  2. Hormonal changes. Most often, a change in the amount of pigment spots is observed against their background, but their inflammation may also occur.
  3. Excessive exposure to ultraviolet light. One of the most common causes of inflammation of the moles on the face.
  4. Oncological processes.
  5. It should be noted that the voluminous (markedly protruding above the skin) moles are more prone to injury and the probability of their further degeneration is higher than that of normal pigmented spots.

What if the mole has inflamed?

In the event that the inflammation of the birthmark has occurred due to injury, treat it like any other inflammation of the skin of a similar nature:

  1. Treatment with antiseptics (alcohol, tincture of calendula, tincture of celandine, Chlorhexidine).
  2. Use of ointments containing zinc and salicylic acid.
  3. Use of ointments with antibiotic content.
  4. If necessary, patching to prevent re-injury.

If the mole not only became inflamed but also changed in size, blushed or turned black, and if the inflammation failed to be cured in 3-7 days, it is necessary to see a doctor, as this may be signs of malignant development.
