Rabies or rabies is a viral infection that is transmitted to a person after a bite by an infected animal along with saliva that has fallen into an open wound. Pathology is considered fatal if not provided with qualified medical care. How many injections of rabies do a man do?
The long-standing "horror story" for children about 40 jabs in the stomach has long been a myth.
Today, 6 injections of a purified concentrated culture anti-rabies vaccine are done. The injections are carried out one after another in days:
- the first, immediately after contacting the emergency room;
- the third;
- seventh;
- fourteenth;
- thirtieth;
- ninetieth.
If an animal that has bitten a person has been monitored continuously, and it has not fallen ill or died within 10 days after the incident, the vaccination course is terminated.
Where are the injections from rabies?
The injections described are administered intramuscularly. For adults, the injection with the vaccine is carried out in the deltoid muscle of the arm - in the forearm.
Side effects of injections from rabies to humans
Like any medicine, a vaccination against rabies can trigger the onset of unpleasant symptoms:
- a strong increase in body temperature, usually short-term;
- rashes on the skin, hives;
- trembling, weakness in the upper and lower limbs;
- sharp and cutting pain in the abdomen;
- Quincke's edema on the background of an allergic reaction;
- pain in muscles and joints, aches;
- dizziness;
- itching of the skin, burning sensation;
- slight numbness in the hands and feet, fingers;
- nausea, until the opening of vomiting;
- general weakness, decreased efficiency.
The listed phenomena are observed rarely, local reactions of the skin in the zone of the injection, such as reddening, swelling, hyperthermia, occur more often.
