The voice is heard: Kendrick Lamar received the Pulitzer Prize for his contribution to music

Until recently, the Pulitzer Prize was associated with loud journalistic exposures, investigations, scandalous photo reports, writers, journalists, public figures, theatricals and musicians in the list of laureates, what has changed? A week ago, the prestigious American award put forward a list of the best for the award and public recognition. For the first time in history, this list included rapper Kendrick Lamar. According to the jury, he was able to show "modern African-American life" in the album "DAMN", to grasp the meaning of "complex and contradictory variety" of culture and connection with religion.

Note that earlier the award in the field of music was awarded only to representatives of jazz and classical music, and never before representatives of pop and rap culture.

In the fourth album, Lamar openly talked about the problems of African Americans in the United States, in almost every track numerous references to the Bible and his hard experience. Back in April of last year, when the album appeared on sale, music critics noted it highly, but only now the rapper's work was evaluated so highly.

Recall that the past Lamar abounds in offenses and street showdowns, but after the death of his best friend Kendrik radically changed his life. In numerous interviews, he repeatedly said that thanks to faith in God he could end the dangerous past and take the path of "correction."

The result of this path is clearly visible, the rapper was included in the list of "100 best debut albums in history" according to the version of the tabloid Rolling Stone, and in 2015 Lamar was on the 9th line of the rating "The Best Hip-Hop Performer in History".
