Thimphu-chorten


Thimphu-chorten is not a random set of letters, as the Russian-speaking reader may seem at first glance, but the name of a Buddhist memorial complex. Thimphu is the name of the city, the capital of Bhutan , and the chorten is an architectural monolithic form in the form of a stupa, which was widely used in the construction of Buddhist monasteries.

In Thimphu-chorten there are no remains of the body - in it, in one of the rooms, there is only a photograph of one of the former rulers of Jigme Dorji Vangchuk. In the center of the stupa there is an altar in which the deities of Buddhist culture are located. In the monastery complex there are two prayer drums, which the faithful regularly twist.

It is believed that King Jigme Dorji Vangchuk possessed a mystical power, and the devil himself, built in honor of the king - the place of fulfillment of desires. How to get there?

Located Thimphu-chorten on Dome Lam in the south-central part of the city, near the Indian military hospital. You can get to the city only from the international airport Paro , which is located 65 km from the town of the same name . From here, you can reach Thimphu by transfer for 45 minutes. The transfer is organized by the tour operator, tk. foreigners can visit Bhutan only on a pre-approved route provided to a local travel company.
