Despite the fact that Lingzhi-dzong is considered one of the most significant Buddhist monasteries in the territory of Bhutan , tourists do not come here very often. The main reason for this is that the temple is high in the mountains and it's not so easy to get here.

In addition, the Dzong is now closed to visitors. On the territory of Lingzhi-Dzong, restoration work is under way. The consequences of several earthquakes (the last of them occurred in 2011) were so destructive that the structure came to a state of emergency. He had to close, and the monks-novices (there are about 30 of them) - to move to another nearby monastery. For the restoration of dzong, the country's budget has been allocated finances, since the monastery has a great historical and cultural value for Bhutanese.

How to get to Lingzhi Dzong?

The monastery is located in the Jigme Dorji National Park near Thimphu . This area is good for hiking: a trip here like the lovers of mountain tourism. In the very capital of Bhutan, tourists arrive usually by plane (the nearest international airport Paro is 65 km from the city). However, keep in mind: access to the monastery is now temporarily closed and you can admire the building only from afar.
