Changlimating


It would be wrong to consider the state of Bhutan as only a religious country. Local residents in their way, though significantly different from the familiar to many of Europe, but also participate in public and sports events. And one of the most popular sports facilities in the country is Changlimitang.

What is Changlimitang?

Changlimithang (Changlimithang Stadium) is a multifunctional stadium built in 1974 in Thimphu , the capital of Bhutan . This stadium is national, the most important and interesting sporting events of the country are held here, mainly football competitions and archery competitions (national sport in Bhutan). There are also home team training and almost all major city holidays and celebrations.

The stadium is rather large: since 2006, after a large-scale reconstruction, it now accommodates 25,000 spectators. Interestingly, sometimes there are theater performances. By the way, the first in the history of Bhutan theatrical spectacle "A Tale of Two Cities" was shown at the Changlimating stadium in the open air.

How to visit Changlimitang?

If you have some free time and you want to visit something unusual, go to the Changlimitt stadium. Unfortunately, public transport for tourists is not available, however you can visit the landmark as part of the excursion group with a professional guide.
