What is DDP?
The most modern and unusual exhibition center in Seoul ( South Korea ) is the Dongdaemun Plaza Design or Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP). It was inaugurated on March 21, 2014. On this day in the country started Fashion Week, and it was decided to combine two beautiful events.
Tondamun Plaza Plaza is located in the beautiful historical district of the capital, close to the East Gate of Dongdaemun and the fortress wall. Next to DDP is the famous park of history and culture. But the unusual, almost space design of the modern building allows its creators to consider their structure "a future that came a little earlier."
The construction of the unusual building, which became the hallmark of Seoul, was conducted from March 31, 2009 to March 2014 by the project of the world's most famous architect Zaha Hadid. This specialist of Arab origin previously created such popular objects as the Tokyo Olympic Stadium, the headquarters of the BMW concern, etc. The total budget of the futuristic project became the most grandiose in the history of the city - $ 450 million - that is 2.4% of the annual budget of Seoul.

What is interesting about Tondamun Plaza Design?
Exhibition Center Tondemun Design Plaza - is 38 thousand square meters. m. of a unique architectural space that "grew" in place of the old baseball stadium. At the same time, some sports elements were preserved during the construction. As a result, Tondemun Plaza Design became the largest building in the world of non-standard 3D shapes. Analogues to it still does not exist.
Futuristic form of Tondemun Design of the Plaza was created on the idea of running water and "free development of space", but there are other embodied unusual ideas in the project. One of the elements of the roof is planted with grass, which previously grew in the desert. Its unpretentiousness and ability to withstand sharp changes in temperature allows you to grow and not wilt all year round.
The outer covering of the entire complex consists of approximately 45,000 metal panels of varying curvature, which gives the Tondemun Design Plaza a silver hue. The frame of the building is a shell of two layers over the frame structure, in which there is not a single familiar column. In the dark, all bends are highlighted by LEDs.
The interior decoration is unique and unique. All the halls, passages, corridors, halls and rooms of Tondemun Plaza Design were created and decorated in a single variant in light gray and sometimes in light brown tones. The most important goal of the modern exhibition center is to introduce each visitor to author's projects and novelties of design, and to exchange and implement the most creative ideas.

Inside Tondemun Plaza Design, not only offices of companies, but also cafes with restaurants, are also operating. All year round you can just go in here, relax and sit.
How to get into DDP?
You can get to the center:
- 2, 4 (more convenient) and 5 metro lines - exit No. 1 at the station Tongdaemun Historical and Cultural Park;
- on buses Nos. 105, 144, 152, 202, 261, 407, 420 and 507;
- on the express bus red - №9403, yellow - №905, green - №2012, blue - №№13, 16, 30 and 62.
Tondemun Design Plaza is available to all comers from 10:00 to 19:00, and on Friday and Saturday until 21:00. The day off is Monday. During the period of exhibitions or special events, DDP operates around the clock. The cost of the ticket depends on the subject of exhibitions and the format of the projects being exhibited. Children under 7 years and visitors over 65 years of age are free.
