Terjinan is a local drug in the form of vaginal suppositories, which has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antifungal effects.
The composition of candles includes substances such as teridazole, nystatin, neomycin and prednisolone.
Indications for use
Gynecological suppositories Terzhinan are used for therapy:
- trichomoniasis of the vagina;
- bacterial vaginitis;
- thrush;
- mixed vaginitis.
And also as a preventive tool:
- before abortion and childbirth;
- gynecological operations;
- when installing the intrauterine device (before and after);
- before hysterography;
- with diathermocoagulation of the cervix (before and after).
Most often Terginan suppositories are positioned as a remedy for thrush.
When can not apply Terzhinan?
Contraindication to the use of anti-inflammatory suppositories Terzhinan in gynecology is the woman's high level of sensitivity to any component of the drug.
How to apply Terginan candles?
The Terginan candle needs to be injected deep into the vagina. This should be done at night, in a supine position. After the introduction of the candle, you must stay in this position for at least 10-15 minutes. Before the introduction of the vaginal tablet, you need to hold in water for 20-30 seconds.
The duration of therapy with Terzhinan is 10 days; for preventive purposes the drug is applied within 6 days. With confirmed mycosis, the course can last up to 20 days.
With regard to the use of vaginal tablets Terzhinan during pregnancy , it should be noted that this drug is only allowed to use from the second trimester. In the first trimester of pregnancy and during the breastfeeding of the baby with breast milk, Terzhinan is prescribed only in those cases when the benefits of treatment for a woman are significantly higher than the risk to the health of the child.
What to look for when using Terzhinan?
Vaginal tablets can cause irritation, itching, burning in the vagina. This should be noted at the beginning of treatment. Sometimes there can be reactions of an allergic nature.
The treatment with Terginan suppositories continues even during menstruation. When treating trichomoniasis and various kinds of vaginitis, in order to avoid relapse of the disease, a woman's permanent sexual partner needs to undergo a screening and, if necessary, a course of treatment simultaneously with the partner.
