Coconut Liqueur

The recipe for the preparation and production of coconut liquor was coined and developed on the island of Barbados, where more than 350 years of producing rum. Light rum and is the basis for the manufacture of the famous coconut liquor "Malibu". The rum liquor Malibu has been known since 1980.

There is a version that one of the barrels with light rum accidentally fell coconut, which after a certain time gave the drink a special taste. Roma producers used casual experience and began experimenting with various additives. The result of these experiments is the line of rum-coconut liqueurs "Malibu".

At the last stage of production of this liqueur, a light rum is mixed with natural coconut extract and high-quality cane sugar. In other embodiments, mango, pineapple, banana or passion fruit extracts are added.

You can cook coconut liquor and at home. Of course, for this you need to use a quality light rum, or at least quality vodka with a neutral taste, as well as cane sugar and natural coconut (well, or at least coconut shavings).

Rum is poured into a bottle and placed in hot water - it should warm up well. Sugar and coconut chips are poured into a glass jar, poured with rum, mixed until the sugar is dissolved and insisted for a week, sometimes mixing. Sugar must be dissolved completely.

The strong infusion obtained is filtered and poured into it coconut milk. You can add natural cream or milk. We pour out bottles and cork them. We put them in the refrigerator. After 4-5 days, the liqueur is ready for use.
