Bandana with your own hands

Bandana is a summer hat in the shape of a kerchief. Very often children's bandanas are equipped with elastic bands (to be easier to wear) or visors (for additional protection of the eyes from the sun). The advantage of bandana is its simplicity. This headgear is simply put on, cleaned (erased) without problems and sewed without the slightest problem.

In this article, we'll talk about how to sew a bandanna for a boy or girl at home. Believe me, it's easier than it might seem.

Baby bandana with your own hands

To create a bandanna on an elastic band for our pattern, you will need:

• flap of a thin tissue of not less than 45x35 cm;
• a piece of underwear (17cm). Eraser is better to take a softer, with a shared placement of rubber bands. The most suitable width of the elastic - 2-3cm;
• sewing thread;
• scissors;
• pins;
• sewing chalk (for marking).

Please note that the dimensions indicated by us are designed for a head volume of 52-54 cm. If the child's head volume is more or less than the declared one, the pattern should be adjusted accordingly.

Completing of the work

1. The bandana pattern for the boy (girl) consists of three parts: two rectangles and a rubber band. Since the elastic band is ready for us, you only need to cut two rectangles. In this case, note that on the outside of each part should be left for 1 cm (allowance for seams). As a result of the allowance, the dimensions of the main part (the larger rectangle) will be 42x26, and the side details of the kulisk (the smaller rectangle) will be 28x7cm.
2. Then you need to process the edges of the larger rectangle. You can do this in any convenient way - on the sewing machine or manually. You can even just tuck it once and stitch it straight or zigzag. After bending, the main part is pressed and laid aside.
3. Small rectangle (smaller part) is folded inward and chipped with pins. After that, the part is stitched, with an indent from the edge of 1cm (it is necessary to fix the threads). If there are excess edges of allowances, they can be cut off, but keep in mind that the free edge must be at least 5mm.
4. After this, the small rectangle (kulisku) should be turned out and ironed. The seam is most conveniently located on the side.
5. Then we put linen gum into the finished kuliska. To make this as simple as possible, you can use this kind of device:
6. After the elastic band is inserted into the kuliska, its edges need to be fixed. The easiest way to do this is by simply sewing them together at a distance of about 5 mm from the edge of the fabric.
7. After all the details are cut and processed, proceed to assembly of the product. To do this, a large rectangle is superimposed on the front of the kulisk (the raw edge of the rectangle is on the short side of the small part)
8. The second edge of the main part should be applied from the top in such a way that the kuliska is inside the "pipe" from the large rectangle.
9. Then we rotate the "pipe" in such a way that the kuliska is on its edge.
10. We turn the part so that its fragmented part is at the bottom.
11. After that, we begin to make an accordion. This part of the work should be done very carefully and carefully. First, bend the edge of the part, overlaying it on top of the cusp and picking the edges of the rectangle. We check that our bookmark width is equal to the width of the kuliska. If this is so - everything is in order, if not - we will mix the details so that both widths coincide. For convenience of work it is possible to get the resulting "roll" pins.
12. The resulting "accordion" is stitched. Of course, repeatedly folded fabric stitch is not very convenient, but, given that our bandana is made of light fabric, it is still possible to do it. Then carefully trim the excess edge of the fabric.
13. The resulting edge is processed in any convenient way (it can be swept or stitched with a "zigzag" seam). The first edge of the bandana is ready.
14. in the same way do the second edge. However, do not forget that the folding accordion from the fabric on the second edge should be mirrored, so that on the finished bandana there were even folds.
15. The sewn edges of the bandana should be carefully ironed and unscrewed. In the expanded form, the edge of the bandanna on the rubber band looks like this.
16. As a result, we get a practical and beautiful children's bandana.

Pattern bandana with a visor is similar to the usual kerchief, but to the wide edge of the product bandanas sewn a visor. It is tied in a normal knot at the back of the head.

Such bandanas perfectly protect the sensitive baby skin from sunburn and overheating. And given the simplicity of creation, they also become an integral part of the summer children's wardrobe.
