Cage for birds own hands

Each bird kept in captivity must have its own cage. The statement that a feathered friend will be much better off living in an apartment without her is fundamentally wrong.

How to make a cage for birds?

Stores of building materials offer a huge range of products that will help make a homemade cage for birds. Remember that when making cages for songbirds it is better to use natural and ecological materials, which will positively affect the health and longevity of the pet. Such materials include: bamboo, vine, steel wire coated with stainless steel, oak, birch, linden and cedar rods, acrylic water-based paints, etc.

Getting Started

  1. Material selection. Before you start making bird cages with your own hands, decide on the material. It's easiest to make a feather house out of metal at home. To do this, you need a metal mesh, corners and fasteners. For the manufacture of the pallet MDF, chipboard, fiberboard or wooden boards are suitable.
  2. Calculation of the amount of material. The size of the cell depends on the size of the bird and the number of individuals that will live in the cage. Do not make the house too small, otherwise your feathered friend will feel uncomfortable, which will affect his health and longevity. Small size is allowed only a bird-carrying cage in which the individual will be transported. Proceeding from the assumed sizes of a cage, we buy a grid and corners.
  3. We collect the cage. We cut off a necessary piece of a grid, we weld it to metal corners. Thus, we get one of the cell walls. You need five - 4 for the side walls and one for the ceiling. From MDF we cut out a piece, which later will serve as the base of the cell. Further from the same material we cut out the side parts of the pallet. Their depth will depend on the depth of your pallet. Usually 5 cm is enough. Next, each of the ready-made walls of the cage is fastened with screws to a wooden pallet, and the metal walls of the net are also connected by means of the same fasteners.
  4. Additional elements. The frame is ready, but the decorative cage for birds is not yet complete. In order for birdlife to live in it, it is necessary to equip the cage with a bird feeder, a drinking system, add mobile and non-mobile perches. Sometimes a cage is placed in a cage where a feathered friend can retire. You can equip the cage with a lamp, add a mirror and other toys for your pet.

It is not so difficult to perform a bird cage with your own hands, for this you need only a desire, a little time and some skills in working with tools such as a drill, a soldering iron and wire cutters.
