Can milk be given to a nursing mother?

Disputes about whether it is possible to drink whole cow milk with breastfeeding continue to this day. Some scientists talk about the benefits of this drink for mom and baby, as it contains calcium, very useful for the baby's bones forming. Others argue that with breastfeeding, you can drink only melted or diluted milk. Still others believe that milk can harm the baby, causing colic, bloating and upset of the stool. Therefore, it is recommended to replace it with fermented milk products (cottage cheese, kefir, natural yoghurt), and milk itself should be used only for cooking (porridge, mashed potatoes, etc.). In addition, milk can cause an allergic reaction in crumbs, and therefore it is necessary to introduce it into the diet of a nursing mother with caution, starting with two tablespoons a day.

Milk for nursing mothers

If the baby does not have allergies, and mom loves and wants to drink milk - she can happily do it. There is also an opinion that the use of milk affects the increase and improvement of lactation. The most common are two recipes. The first, very simple, is black tea with the addition of milk or brewed on milk. To increase lactation, tea with milk is drunk several times a day shortly before feeding.

The second, well-known recipe is nut milk. To do this, 100 grams of chopped nuts are poured into two glasses of hot milk and boiled until thick, then add 25 grams of sugar. To increase lactation, nut milk is drunk on a third of the glass 30 minutes before feeding.

On the other hand, the effectiveness of these methods is explained by the fact that not the milk itself influences, but the warm drink taken before feeding and it is important not what the woman drinks, but how much (it can be like milk, just water, compote, tea etc.).
