Candles of lavarol from thrush: side effects and contraindications
This drug has no serious contraindications, but if the woman is inclined to manifest allergic reactions to ketoconazole, you should refrain from using this drug. Like any remedy for thrush, Livarol has a number of contraindications and side reactions:
- the age of a girl under 12;
- breast-feeding.
During pregnancy it is possible to use vaginal suppositories of livarol only after 12 weeks of pregnancy, when the fetus has already formed all the major vital organs.
As adverse reactions, a woman can be noted:
- burning, itching in the vagina;
- redness of the mucosa;
- hives;
- in some cases dizziness, nausea;
- rarely: pink discharge from the vagina .
In the presence of side effects, the drug should be discontinued and consult a gynecologist for the selection of the most optimal drug as a substitute for liverol.
It is necessary to exclude contact with products made of latex (condoms). So, if a woman is being treated for thrush and continues to have an active sex life using condoms, then the effectiveness of thrush treatment may be reduced in the future.
Dosing and Administration
A lavarol candle is injected into the vagina as far as possible inside. Thus the woman should be in a lying position, lying on a back. Vaginal suppositories are administered once a day, more often at night to avoid unpleasant sensations, when the candle begins to flow out of the woman's body.
The full course of treatment is usually not more than five days. However, in case of neglect of the disease or severe form of the infection of the thrush, the doctor can prescribe the use of vaginal suppositories for 10 days, and if necessary, prescribe a second course of treatment.
During pregnancy and breastfeeding, if the doctor prescribes the lavarol suppositories, the course of treatment for the same duration is from five to ten days.
If necessary, vaginal suppositories can be used during menstrual flow, but in this case the effectiveness of treatment is lower, since the candle is washed out more quickly. If it is necessary to prescribe treatment for yeast infection, the vaginal suppositories of livarol are most preferable, since they have practically no adverse reactions and compete quite effectively with fungal microorganisms in the vagina.
