Trusting statistics, we can confidently say that most of the children die on the road not under the wheels of cars, but directly in the cars themselves. For this reason, it is very important to use a child seat or a restraint device.
Nowadays, children's car restraints are an urgent necessity, since a good car seat can save a child's life and health in an abnormal situation on the road.
A quality child restraint (car seat) is quite expensive, but you can choose a cheaper alternative. In any case, even if one of you thinks this is a waste of money, using child restraints can save them, because if you are stopped with a child in a car without a car seat, then penalties can not be avoided.
Types of retention devices
Not everyone understands that it is a child restraint. The answer is simple, because it is:
- autollyks / autocells for children of the first months of life, starting with an extract from the hospital (often come complete with a stroller);
- car seats - the safest device for children aged 0 to 12 years;
- "Belt adapters" - for fastening children from 4 years with car belts;
- children's seats, or boosters - a seat with armrests, on which the child sits and is fixed with a belt.
In general, for every taste, purse and color.
I would like to single out a child restraint booster separately. Many try to replace it with a regular pillow, but we must understand that these are completely different things. The booster is convenient for its size, compactness, weight and is ideal for short trips. However, the booster is inferior to the seats in its safety.
How to choose a holding device in the car?
The requirements for child restraints are contained in the Technical Regulation "On the Safety of Wheeled Vehicles".
Whichever device you choose, it must meet the following requirements:
- reliably protect the child from injury during an automobile accident or sudden braking;
- be comfortable for the baby and for the parents (it is also very important to quickly and conveniently seat the child);
- match the weight / age of the child (see table).

It is very important to read and follow the instructions before use. Many people do not know how to fasten a child restraint, and they do it "to hell", but your child's life depends on your actions. Do not be lazy to read the instructions, watch training videos, if you do not understand something, then do not hesitate to ask others. And most importantly - keep an eye on the road!
