Correct speech and literate speech

The art of correct and competent speech is not available to everyone, but this speech is necessary for many people, especially those whose activities are connected with active communications - negotiations, performances before a large audience, communication with clients.

The rules of literate speech

Competently delivered speech - beautiful and informationally saturated, logically built and expressive. Unfortunately, the modern school pays little time to build a literate and clear speech, and the result is the inability of many people to freely use the richness of their native language.

The rules of literate speech prescribe to exclude from the lexicon of tautology ("dance dance", "young boy", "ask a question"), parasitic words ("in general", "so to speak", "as if", "shorter"). In addition, you should get rid of those words, the meanings of which you do not know, as well as from the unjustified use of foreign words having a Russian analogue.

Watch out for the stresses and genera of some words. Despite the admission to use "coffee" as a word of the middle kind, educated people are unlikely to appreciate it positively. And if in the word "ring" the stress falls on the first syllable, and in the word "barman" - on the second, it will give you an illiterate person.

Use in the speech colorful metaphors, original comparisons, descriptions, sayings and aphorisms - all these tools will help make your story lively and beautiful.

How to learn literate speech?

The best literary speech is taught by classical fiction. Reading allows you to expand vocabulary, learn how to beautifully build phrases, more easily express your thoughts and feelings with words. And, in addition, reading improves and writing, making it more literate and more imaginative.

To learn correctly delivered speech it is necessary with the help of a dictaphone. Try to write down your retelling of a literary work or film. Then listen to the record, find the speech errors - words parasites, repetitions, poorly worded phrases. In the future, try to keep track of what you are saying, and not to allow these errors.

After learning new words, try to figure out their meaning and enter into the active vocabulary. However, avoid satiating your speech with too many complex words - this will not make you a good conversationalist.
