Cubital channel syndrome

Nerves transmit impulses from the brain to the muscles. When they are squeezed, the conductivity of the impulses is disturbed, which can cause the limb to malfunction. For the same reason, the syndrome of the cubital canal, located under the ulna, develops. In this case, the stronger the pressure on the nerve, the more pronounced the disease.

Causes and Symptoms of the Cubital Syndrome

The causes of the syndrome are frequent flexions of the arm at the elbow, which is due to the peculiarities of the profession or the resulting trauma. In this case, people with diabetes and alcohol abusers, suffer from this disease more often.

On the formation of the cubital tunnel syndrome, such signs are evidenced:

Treatment of cubital nerve syndrome

First of all, the patient is prescribed conservative treatment, which involves reducing the load on the limb. It is important to exclude too sharp movements, not to rely on the palm of your hand.

The arm is immobilized by fixing the bandage in the unfolded position. The patient can be given a tire worn even at night.

To restore the motor function, it is recommended to perform gymnastics and take inflammatory drugs.

If after twelve weeks of conservative therapy there is no improvement, then the syndrome of the cubital canal is treated operatively. During an operation that is performed under local or general anesthesia , nerves are released by dissecting the ligaments. At the same time, the pressure decreases, and the limb functions are restored. Also, the doctor can decide to create a new channel and introduce a nerve into it.
