Fangs in a child - symptoms

The period of teething is a very difficult test for a baby suffering from painful sensations and for a mother, for which it often means sleepless nights. Traditionally, first the crumbs have upper and lower incisors, then premolars, and only then canines. But sometimes this order is violated very significantly. Therefore, parents are interested in whether the child can first cut his fangs. The answer will be positive, as each children's organism is individual.

How to determine that fangs began to erupt?

According to observations of pediatricians, on average the baby can see the fangs at about 16-22 months, but any deviations from this interval are also a variant of the norm. It's unlikely that you will miss this momentous event, because the symptoms of the fact that the fangs are already climbing on the child are quite unambiguous:

  1. Copious saliva. Sometimes in this case, your child must wear a bib for the whole day. In this case, your little son or daughter constantly draws any objects, both edible and inedible, into the mouth, gnawing and biting them. This is due to the redness and swelling of the gums, which causes the small sufferer great discomfort.
  2. Poor appetite. Of all the symptoms of canine eruption in children, this is most ambiguous, because the fact that the baby has eaten a little and refuses even the favorite dishes, can be associated with other diseases.
  3. Increased temperature. In connection with the development of the body of special bioactive substances in the gum area, the temperature of 37-38 degrees is often held by the child for at least 1-2 days. In this case it is necessary to have children's antipyretic drugs at hand.
  4. Disorders of the gastrointestinal tract. When the children are approaching their fangs, the symptoms of this often become vomiting, diarrhea or, conversely, constipation. The reason for this is increased salivation: since the baby swallows a lot of saliva, it helps to accelerate the intestinal motility. However, if the liquid stool is observed more often 2-3 times a day and does not go through a couple of days, consult a doctor to rule out intestinal infection.
  5. Wet cough and runny nose. This is one of the most common symptoms of a child's fangs cutting. Usually, after a few days, there is no trace left of them.
  6. Violations of behavior. Depending on how long the child's fangs climb, you will have to put up with a restless sleep and the excessive capriciousness of your baby for a while.
