How to multiply the large-leaf ficus?

Almost certainly, all the owners of figs sooner or later wonder about its reproduction. First, sometimes it is a way to keep an existing plant in a presentable form, and some other types are not so easy to find on the shelves of flower shops.

How to propagate ficus correctly at home?

With a high probability, we can assume that the aspiring gardener will ask whether it is possible to propagate the ficus leaf, and will be right. This is the simplest method, and almost all species are perfectly suited to this reproduction. But there are other methods is not much more difficult. So, let's consider three options, how to multiply the large-sized ficus:

  1. The good news for a beginner will be the fact that the ficus can be multiplied with a leaf by taking just a sheet with a piece of the stem, as this is enough for rooting. Your task is to find a sheet with an unaffected node, it must be apex or from the middle part. It is precisely the greater part of the internodes that we will dump into the substrate, by twisting the sheet into a tube. If desired, you can take warm water instead of the substrate. It is more convenient to propagate the ficus leaf with the leaf, since you get the same number of cuttings as the number of leaves on the shoot.
  2. The second option to answer the question of how to propagate ficus correctly at home is to get a cut. Large-leaved species are good in that apical cuttings and the middle part of the shoot with a pair of three leaves are suitable for reproduction. But be sure to wash off the milk after cutting, so that it does not inhibit rooting. Root in warm water, vermiculite or perlite.
  3. And finally, the large-sized ficus can be multiplied with benefit, since at times the plant loses its appearance. If the lower leaves have fallen off and the trunk is bare, we make cross-shaped cuts on it and cover with moss, we fix it from above with polyethylene. In these places, the air roots will begin to grow, and we simply cut off the top and plant them in the substrate.
