How to root a rose from a bouquet?

There is an opinion that flowers given from the heart will stand for a long time. Often it happens that the bouquet-long-liver from roses already withers, and on the stems of flowers there are new kidneys. These young shoots are direct evidence that you can root the flower you like and subsequently grow a full-fledged rose bush out of it. Rooting of roses from a bouquet can also be tested on stems that do not have obvious young buds, but it is worth remembering that the Dutch roses practically do not succumb to rooting.

How correctly to root a rose?

The stalk for rooting is better to choose lignified, from the middle of the stem. Cut it is necessary at an angle of 45o so that its entire length is 15-30 cm, and on the very cuttings there were at least 2-3 interstices. Before you root the outgrowth of the rose, the upper cut must be treated with activated carbon, remove the lower leaves, and split the lower cut crosswise. It would be superfluous to apply the growth stimulator to the lower section, and for successful rooting it is necessary to choose the right substrate.

Cuttings can be planted in the open ground, but according to experienced flower growers it is better to plant them in pots. The stalk is placed in a pot under a slope in such a way that only one kidney remains above the surface of the earth. On top of the pot put a cropped plastic bottle, which will maintain the desired moisture, the pot is exposed to a lighted place with scattered light and regularly watered, making sure that the soil was moistened.

Caring for a rooted rose

Knowing how to root a cut rose, you already within a month will receive a callus and the first shoots. Nevertheless, it is not necessary to remove the mini-greenhouse the whole first year, because many roses even when shoots appear can not boast a developed root system and die if the greenhouse conditions are violated ahead of time.

After the roots are rooted, it is better not to plant them immediately on the street, but to allow the plant to gradually get used to another climate, taking the pot to the open air, and only the next year to plant the plant in the garden. Do not forget that roses grown from a bouquet are much more exacting to the soil and maintaining a certain temperature, so it is more comfortable for them to grow in pots in an apartment than in a garden on the street.
