What are the external signs of rickets in one-year-old children?
Already after half a year, when the load on the bone apparatus increases, the curvature of the spine occurs, the chest is pressed inward or vice versa - it swells. The pelvis acquires a flat shape and itself becomes very narrow. After the baby starts walking alone, the legs are curved, which acquire a wheel-shaped shape. This phenomenon leads to the development of flat feet in toddlers.
It should be noted that along with changes in the bone apparatus, there is also a decrease in muscle tone. As a result of the hypotension of the anterior abdominal muscles, a disturbance develops, such as a "frog" abdomen. In the joints there is increased mobility. All these changes directly affect the process of development of motor skills, such kids later start turning over on their stomachs, sitting, crawling.
Also, among the signs of rickets in children after a year, it is necessary to note the delay in teething. Often, these babies are noted violations in the internal organs: the lungs, the heart, the gastrointestinal tract. Due to the fact that babies with rickets, as a rule, there is a decrease in the body's defenses, they often get respiratory diseases. As a rule, these signs of rickets are observed in children older than a year.
