How to teach the child to hold the handle correctly

The first attempts of children to write, usually, begin with capture of a pencil in a fist. To not have to retrain, you must immediately try to explain to the child how to hold a pencil. Offer the baby exercises to train the fingertips, which will help later teach the child to properly hold the handle.

It is necessary to hold the pencil or pen freely, without squeezing too much and without bending the index finger. Strong pressure will increase muscle tension, which will lead to fatigue of the child and deterioration of the quality of his writing.

To teach the child to properly hold the handle, you need to place it on the left side of the middle finger, between the first and second phalanx. With your index finger, hold the handle on top, and with your thumb, hold the handle on the left side. All three fingers must be bent. Do not tighten the handle strongly, the index finger can move freely. The finger and the little finger are located inside the palm of your hand and lie loosely at the base of the large one. When writing, the hand rests on the joint of the little finger. The distance from the tip of the handle to the tip of the index finger is about 2 cm.
