In the Blue Mountains lies the Kanangra-Boyd National Park, where you can see many interesting things. Landscapes of this famous park have repeatedly hit the camera lenses when shooting many adventure films. We suggest you to get acquainted in absentia with one of the most popular sights of Australia .
Tourist routes of the Kanangra-Boyd park
The national park consists of two types of landscape: this is a majestic plateau of the Boyd, smoothly passing into a picturesque area, cut by mountain ranges, rivers and canyons.
The most interesting sights of the Kanangra-Boyd National Park are the famous Kanangra Walls and the Kanangra Falls. Also tourists are attracted by sharp peaks Turat and Mount Cloudmaker - another landmark of the park. Fans of hiking come to the national park "Kanangra-Boyd". For them, there are several hiking trails here:
- The "sightseeing trail" is the easiest way, even for people traveling by wheelchair. This short road will lead you to a viewing platform, which offers a magnificent view of Mount Cloudmaker, the Blue Mountains and deep gorges;
- from another viewing platform located above the Kanangra Falls waterfalls, a path begins that will take you to the place where these waterfalls fall;
- "Path-on-plateau" - a route leading to the heath-covered plateau of Boyd.
Keep in mind that the observation platforms of this park, located on the tops of the cliffs, do not have any special fences and handrails. While there, you should be very careful.
One of the popular entertainment in the Kanangra-Boyd National Park is the alpinist descent from the cliff next to the waterfall. For this purpose, special equipment can be rented here. Equally exciting and dangerous is going down the canoe - but keep in mind that this requires some experience and skill.
How to get to Kanangra-Boyd?
The park is located 100 km west of Sydney , in New South Wales. You can reach it at least by two roads: from the Jenolan Caves or from the city of Oberon. In the first case, by the way, it is convenient to combine two excursions to save time, so valuable for any tourist. If you are going to a park from Sydney, you should follow the Great Western Highway. In 3 hours you will reach the town of Hartley, where you should turn left, onto a country road. At the next fork, turn left again, and after 30 km you will see a parking lot where you can leave the car while visiting Kanangra-Boyd.
