Malmö Airport

Malmö Airport is the third busiest in Sweden . It is located about 30 km east of Malmö . Until 2007, Malmö Airport was named Sturup. Malmö is 15 times smaller than the Copenhagen airport, but sometimes it accepts planes that can not for some reason land there.

Construction of the airport

Until 1972 the main airport in the region was Bullfort. But in the 1960s there was a need for a new airport: Bullfort was very close to residential areas, and the residents were very unhappy, they constantly protested because of the noise and pollution of the environment. Construction lasted 2 years, from 1970 to 1972. As a result, Bullfort airport was closed. The Air Control Service remained there for several years, but then they also moved to Malmö Airport.
