What to see?

If in the childhood you dreamed of becoming a princess or a king, then a visit to the castle of Örebro is an excellent opportunity to plunge into children's dreams again. It is a real fairy-tale palace with high towers and stone bridges, which preserved the spirit of medieval times. Near the castle flows the river Svarton, and for the sake of completeness, the picture lacks only a fire-breathing dragon. Everything in this place breathes history: in order to make sure of this, one should pay attention to:

  1. The architecture of the castle. At first glance, Orebro creates a sense of grandeur and invulnerability. From the city side you can see a massive citadel with powerful corner towers, a tiled roof and narrow window-loopholes. Above, the castle looks more like a large rectangle with sides 27 and 48 m. From the tower towering over the castle at 30 m, an unforgettable view of the city itself and the river opens. The shafts connecting the towers have a thickness of more than 2 m.
  2. A stone bridge leading across the river. This is the only way to the castle of Örebro, due to which its security and invulnerability to the enemy was quite obvious. The inner courtyard of the castle is surprisingly beautifully preserved paving stone, which was completely untouched by the time. Many entrances lead to it from the castle.
  3. The Royal Tower , which is the most popular part of the palace. It preserved the originality of the entire medieval atmosphere and color. Also there you can learn the history of the castle thanks to modern technologies: computer animation and mock-ups.
  4. A scene from the life of the former residents of the castle - it was recreated in one of the halls. Decorators and historians have worked hard on their idea, interesting and memorable.
  5. The tower of Graf . It is interesting for tourists not only for medieval interiors, but also for memorable souvenirs. It is here that you can buy souvenirs in memory of visiting the fairy-tale palace.
  6. The north side . There you can see the remains of the fortress wall, which during the reorganizations in the XVIII century was partially dismantled.
