Tivén is one of the most interesting nature reserves in Sweden . It is a place with an amazing landscape - dense forests, deep gorges, giant boulders and beautiful lakes .
Location:
Tivens National Park in Sweden is located on the border between the provinces of Vestra Götaland and Örebro and is surrounded by two lakes - Vättern and Vänern .
History of the Reserve
The chronicle of Tidenia dates back to 1983, when local forests and lakes were first protected, and the park was declared a national reserve. Today, the Tivedensky forest is very famous, including outside Sweden. In Stenkel opened the information center of the reserve, where you can specify information about the excursion routes and attractions of Tiveden.
What is interesting about Tiveden Park?
In the reserve it is worth paying attention to:
- Tivedensky forest - evergreen dense woodland with glimpses of lakes;
- Mount Trollkirbergen , climbing to the top of which, you can observe the picturesque surroundings;
- Lake Vänern and Wettern , formed as a result of the movement of the earth's crust and the formation of cracks in the soil; in the water you can swim and fish;
- huge boulders of the glacial period , reaching 10 m in height and located in the forest near the Trollkirk mountain , near the information center;
- caves in stony slopes, the most famous of which is Stenkella with an altar of pagan times and traces of a human being in it;
- sandy beach Witsand .
Flora and fauna of the reserve
The fauna and flora of the Tivén National Park is quite poor. Here you can see pine, spruce, dwarf birch, aspen and hazel. From the mammals in the reserve live deer, moose, fox, squirrel, badgers, martens, from birds - wood grouses, woodpeckers and owls.
Rest in the Tivede Reserve
In Tiveden, you must adhere to the established rules, namely:
- it is forbidden to ride a bicycle;
- you can not build bonfires;
- it is forbidden to damage trees and plants;
- In the afternoon, tents are not allowed.
For visitors to the Tivens Park, 9 different hiking trails with lengths from 500 m to 9.5 km are laid along the most interesting places of the reserve. The total length of all trails is 25 km. Most of the roads are hilly and in some areas quite complex. The easiest routes are Mellannäsrundan south of the entrance of Ösjönäs, a short Vitsandsrundan at the entrance of Vitsand and Junker Jägarerundan. Many excursions pass through blocks in Stenkell, Trollkirbergen mountains and to the beach of Witsand.
Overnight in the reserve
In Tivendon it is allowed to stay in the camping only for one night, between 18:00 and 10:00 am. All the details can be found in the information center of the park.
When is it better to visit the Tivén reserve?
The national park can be visited all year round, with each season has its own characteristics:
- In spring there is a lush vegetation and an abundance of birds.
- Summer is a great time for hiking and swimming in the lake of Trekerningen on the long sandy beach of Witsand.
- The beauty of the autumn trip is the contemplation of the multi-colored leaves of the trees.
- In winter , you can move around with snowshoes and enjoy the views of a quiet and shiny forest with bizarre ice figures.
How to get there?
It is difficult to reach the Tivén National Park without a car. But for motorists there are several options to get into the reserve:
- From the south of Highway 49 between Karlsborg and Askerund. The road passes by Stenkällegården, reaches the border of the park and continues north, past the Main Entrance and to the public road between Askerund and Tieve.
- On the roads from Askerzund in the northeast and E20 along Finnerage and Lakso in the north-west.
The main entrance has parking for cars, information desks and a toilet. Another parking lot is located in the north-western part of the park next to Witsand on Lake Treieringen.
If you are traveling without a car, then take into account that from the Tiveda community to the reserve are cycling paths and paths for riding. You can also get to the park by horse and bicycle.
