Best sorts of plums for prunes

The requirements that are put forward to the fruits of these varieties are as follows:

• not less than 20% of dry matter;
• more than 12% of sugar;
• less than 1% water and acid;
• small fetal size;
• weight not more than 30-40 g;
• dense skin of dark color, usually with spraying;
• small stone.

These very specific requirements are answered not so many varieties of plums:

1. "Hungarian Korneevskaya" has a violet-brown color and sweet flesh. The fruits of these plums ripen in August-September. The tree does not begin to bear fruit until 3-4 years after planting.
2. "Hungarian Italian" has an elastic flesh and dense skin. The optimal way is to collect the plums not from the branches of the tree, but from the ground. Such fruits have reached optimal maturity for prune drying.
3. A variety of high-quality prunes is also produced from Renoclod Rososhansky. This plum has an amber juicy pulp, with a slight sourness. The tree itself is not high.
4. "Bluebird" is a self-fertilized plum, ripens in mid-August. Fruits of medium size. The variety is resistant to diseases and harsh winters.
5. "Prunes of Adyghe" - a domestic variety of plums. And unlike other dried fruit varieties "Plum Adigail" does not meet all the above requirements, although it has its advantages. The fruits of this variety are large, with a large bone. They have sweet and sour taste, they dry well. Ripen late, and bear fruit profusely.

When choosing trees for your garden, keep in mind that it should be a red (purple) plum. It is impossible to get prunes from yellow plums.
