Who among us would not like to eat a juicy watermelon or a fragrant melon from his own garden? Not many people know, but these cultures are capable of yielding a good harvest even in the mid-Russian region, not to mention the more hot regions of Russia. The key to success is the strict observance of all the rules for growing and planting seedlings of watermelons and melons.
Growing seedlings of watermelons and melons
The period of growing melon-watermelon seedlings, however, as well as seedlings of other pumpkin plants, is only 30 days. During this period, the seedlings must be in good light and a high enough temperature - + 20 ... + 25 ° С.
To protect the tender roots of watermelon and melon seedlings from damage, it is grown in small pots, planting in each two seeds. After puncturing the shoots, you need to leave only one of them - the stronger one.
To accelerate the emergence of seedlings, before planting the seeds must be soaked. To do this, a mashed sheet of aloe is lowered into the container with boiled water, and then selected seeds are sent there for 6-8 hours.
Land for planting seedlings of watermelons and melons should be taken loose, saturated with nutrients, and down the pot to lay a thick layer of drainage.
Seeds are buried in the ground for 20-25 mm, and from above they organize a mini-greenhouse, which is removed immediately after the appearance of the first shoots. During the growing season, seedlings are fed several times with complex or mineral fertilizers.

Seedlings of watermelons and melons are planted only when the soil on it warms up well, and the danger of recurrent and night frosts completely passes. Usually this happens in late May or early June. The distance between the bushes is about 70 cm. For each bush, dig a hole deep into the bayonet bayonet, to the bottom of which a layer of humus is poured. Above, neatly set seedlings, covered with earth, watered. Above each bush is installed a mini-greenhouse from a cut five-liter bottle. After the seedlings take root and get stronger, the mini-greenhouse can be removed.
