Signs of adenomyosis

The main signs of adenomyosis on ultrasound

• uterus enlargement 2-3 times;
• myometrium has a heterogeneous structure;
• In the muscular layer of the uterus, there may be formations resembling cysts;
• Uneven thickness of the walls of the uterus and compaction of its posterior wall.

But gynecological examination and ultrasound only allow preliminary diagnosis. A more complete picture will help to obtain laboratory studies, magnetic resonance imaging and hysteroscopy.

One form of adenomyosis is diffuse adenomyosis. In this case, the signs of a diffuse form of adenomyosis are the same as in adenomyosis of the uterus body. The very same disease is characterized by the fact that the endometrium grows into the muscular tissue of the uterus and leads to an expansion of the endometrium.
