The fairy-tale castle Sikhrov is located in the Czech Republic near the town of Turnov . Fabulous it can be called not only for its beauty and age, but also because it produced several such films, such as, for example, "Goldilocks". Currently, Sikhrov Castle is recognized as a national cultural monument.
Building a castle
The two-storey baroque palace was built on the site of a Gothic fortress in 1693. It was a simple building, from which there still remains a pair of walls. In 1820, the new owners of the Dukes of Rohan rebuilt it to their liking, after which it became very similar to the French palace. Each descendant of the Rohan family made their changes in the architecture of the building, gradually changing it from late classicism to gothic. The inner chambers are decorated with the work of the famous wood carver Peter Busheka. He for many years made a wooden paneling of walls and ceiling, and also created almost all the furniture.
At the beginning of the last century, modernization was carried out, as a result of which many of Bushek's works and gypsum decorations on the towers were removed. Now works are underway to restore the castle in the condition in which it was in the second half of the XIX century. The work is not finished yet, and the castle Sikhrov in the photo already looks like a real French residence.
Collections
The interior design and decoration of the castle Sikhrov differ in beauty and good taste, it contributes to the work of Bushek and the presence of numerous collections:
- antique furniture;
- miniatures of the 16th century;
- glass and porcelain products;
- French portrait painting;
- old books.
A park
The castle is surrounded by a beautiful park in English style. It differs from the building in three directions. The central path leads to the greenhouse, the right path leads along the driveway and leads into the oak alley, and the left one goes to the romantic ruins of Arthur's castle.
The greenhouse is the most famous part of the park. The building is built in the Neo-Renaissance style. At various times it served as a gallery for flowers, a summer mansion, a place for social events.
The park also has:

- Chinese lake with a bridge.
Excursions

- Czech Paradise , Sikhrov Castle and Prakhov Rocks . This is the name of the area of the Czech Republic, where the locks of Sikhrov, Gruba Skala , Trosky are located, and to the east - Prahovskie cliffs with numerous observation platforms. The tour lasts 10 hours.
How to get there?
You can get to Sikhrov Castle from Prague by bus, car and train. The train goes straight to Sikhrov. If you go by bus, you need to make a transfer to Mlada Boleslav and go to the stop of Pacerice Rohanka. The car needs to go along highway E65 (R10) to the northeast, then turn to Liberec on highway E442 (35).
