The city of Mlada Boleslav near Prague is famous for the fact that the Skoda factory is located on its territory - the pride of the Czech auto industry. By the centenary of the stamp, a museum was opened at the plant, where you can learn about the history of its creation and look at modern city models and concept cars produced by the plant.

The history of the brand itself began in 1895, when two namesakes - Václav Laurin and Vaclav Klement - started joint production of bicycles, gradually moving to motorcycles. Since 1905 they began to produce the first machines of Voitturette A. In 1925, the company signed a merger with the European automobile concern Skoda in search of new capacities and for expansion of production.

The first museum exposition opened in Mlada Boleslav in 1960. At first, it occupied little place. Here were presented the first models of motorcycles beginning of the twentieth century, six machines of different periods, one fire tank and one racing car. The idea of ​​the museum was pleasant both to the employees of the plant and to the visitors, after which it began to expand, adding models. By 1975, he needed a separate building - the Technicke Museum was opened. By the centenary of Skoda in 1995 the museum moved to the old factory building. Huge shops allowed to accommodate a significantly expanded exhibition and those wishing to examine its visitors, the number of which exceeded 120 thousand per year.

Today the museum has 340 exhibits. This is not only cars, but also engines, drawings, engineers notes, three-dimensional modern materials of designers, articles in newspapers about the brand and many others. etc. All is distributed in three halls:

  1. Evolution Hall , where you can study the history of the brand, the change of cars, new engineering solutions. Also here are the collections of magazines and newspapers that wrote about the events in the life of Skoda.
  2. The Hall of Tradition is the most interesting for many. It assembles cars from the beginning of the century to modern concepts. There are cars and racing cars, limousines. By changes in appearance you can trace not only the history of the brand, but also the development of the entire car industry of the twentieth century.
  3. Accuracy Hall introduces the internal life of the concern. Documents and photos show the process of development and production of new machines, and documentary films introduce the modern possibilities of popular Skoda cars.
  4. Restoration room , in which experts maintain in good condition all the museum's cars, including the oldest. Here you can see how the cars were assembled in the 30s of the XX century.
