Sveta Nedelya and Katich

Sveta Nedelya and Katich are tiny islands in the Adriatic Sea, belonging to Montenegro . They are located near the coast near Petrovac . Officially they are called Big and Small Katich, but the latter is more often called the Light of the Week. The islets are quite small, but they are popular tourist destinations - mainly thanks to the fascinating sea walk that needs to be done to get on them. In addition, the seclusion of the islands attracts those who want to relax away from the hustle and bustle.

If you look at them from Petrovac's city beach , only one of them is visible, Katich, because the islands are almost on the same line perpendicular to the shore. You can see the Light of the Week and Katich from the shore, if you look from the outskirts of Petrovac. Near the islands are reefs, which are a protected area and are protected by the state. The most interesting place for divers is the area of the underwater rock Donkova Seka.

Light Week

At the very top of the island, whose name translates as "Holy Sunday", built a tiny church. According to legend, it was built by sailors from a ship that crashed here during a storm in honor of miraculous salvation. Today the church is considered an amulet for seafarers. It was almost completely destroyed during the earthquake in 1979, but then rebuilt.

Katich

The island of Katich is less interesting. It's just a heap of rocks, covered with coniferous trees, but the landscape here is beautiful in its own way. On the island there is a lighthouse, its signal is visible for six miles.

How to get to the islands?

You can get to Sveta Nedelya and Katich in two different ways: either rent a boat (catamaran) on the beach in Petrovac , or buy a ticket for the boat, which regularly fly here during the summer season.
