Hum Mountain

Mount Hum is west of the city of Mostar in Bosnia and Herzegovina . Nature has not endowed him with outstanding beauty, but the popularity of the mountain with tourists is growing rapidly.

Mount Hum is a symbol of faith and controversy

Hum is a small mountain located in the central part of Bosnia and Herzegovina near Mostar. Hum Hill rises above sea level at an altitude of 1280 m. It has no expressive peaks or rocks, but it attracts many travelers to Mostar. From the mountain, a breathtaking panorama of the city, stretching to its foot, opens. In clear weather, you can be sure that the view of Mostar from the hill Hum is especially impressive!

The only and main attraction of Huma is the 33-meter cross. It was erected on Hume 16 years ago, calling it the symbol of the Catholic faith in Mostar. Since then, the cross symbolizes not only one of the religions of the city, but also a dispute between the adherents of Islam and Catholicism living in it. Far from religious disputes to tourists, it will be especially interesting to visit the hill in the spring, when it is covered with bright flowers.

A high cross on Hum mountain can be seen from anywhere in the city even at night, because it is effectively highlighted by bright lights in the dark. To the cross is laid the so-called "The Way of the Cross": 14 reliefs with the themes of the Passion of Christ. On Good Friday, along this path to the summit of Huma, many believing Christians come here from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina .

How to get there?
