Virači National Park

Virače National Park is the largest and most picturesque park in Cambodia, along with two other national parks ( Bokor and Kirir ). It occupies more than 3300 square meters. km. The huge territory to this day is not fully understood, so scientists here conduct their research constantly. Fans of the "wild" recreation park should like it, because a walk for visitors can take several hours, and a few days, so in the park you can often see whole tent cities.

The park is located between the borders of Vietnam, Laosoma and Stung Treng. In the Virači National Park, you can immerse yourself in an extraordinary forest flora, stroll through the sunny meadows, try to make your way through the "dense" jungle and buy under the falling waterfalls. The fauna of the area impresses many visitors, because the park has become a home for endangered species of elephants, leopards, tigers and bears. Be careful and walk around the place of their congestion, which are indicated on the map of the park.

History of the park

The plateau, which now houses the striking landmark of Cambodia, was previously inhabited by a not-so-known minority of "krengi". The population had many of its traditions and rites, one of the main was sacrifice. After a while, the population began to die out due to deadly diseases. In the era of the protection of France, this place for some reason did not cause any interest in the authorities, but with the advent of the Khmer, it was called mystical. The Khmer, as well as all the inhabitants of Cambodia, were aware of the bloody rituals of the Keng people, so the park's plateau was bypassed.

The Vicharei National Park is one of the "young" attractions of Cambodia. It was established in 2004. At the moment the park is under study, so there are so few tourist routes. The Government of Cambodia is trying to maintain the untouched nature of the scenery, and considerable fines (from $ 15) are imposed for deliberate damage to the terrain (cutting down trees, hunting and garbage).

Walk in the park

In the Virači National Park, pedestrian paths have long been established for visitors. The area attracts a large number of tourists with its savagery and untouched. The park is completely covered by the jungle and therefore is not at all safe. Curious tourists we advise you to hire yourself an experienced guide. At the moment in the National Park Virači there is a club of travelers with experienced guides. They will show you the farthest corners of the park, but not in one day. There are three types of sightseeing trekking in the club:

  1. Mountain track . It is designed for new, unskilled tourists. Although the road is built through a mountain range, it remains safe. This tracking you can go along with the guide for three days. You can stop in a small tent town of Virače. The cost of this type of tracking is 60 dollars.
  2. Olapeung track . It was created for those who have already at least once passed a mountain track and got acquainted with all the dangers of the park. On this route there is always a lot of excitement. This type of travel lasts from 4 to 5 days. The cost is 80 dollars.
  3. Wild track . This type of route you will pass in a week, but get ready for natural tests. This is the most dangerous kind of tracking, because it also goes to places where predatory animals live. For him you will pay about $ 150 (including food and a first aid kit).
