Wat Unal

The exquisite Buddhist monastery Wat Ounalom became the most popular of Cambodia's sights and the most ancient, very important temple of Phnom Penh.

A bit of history

It was built in the distant 1403 and to this day is a functioning monastery of the royal family. Wat Ounalom still conducts traditional religious rites on the "teachings of the ancients." A large number of people gather for rituals, everyone reads the mantra. According to the beliefs, having visited the rite in this temple, you touch the "most holy" that purifies your body and gives good luck. In the backyard of Wat Ounalom, in its very center, there is a stupa, under which is stored the hair of the Buddha, transported from Sri Lanka.

You just need to visit this wonderful temple, at least in order to appreciate the beautiful ancient architecture of the structure. Golden roofs, red walls with stunning frescoes look amazing. Adds picturesque to this place the background of the blue sky.
