Where does lingonberries grow?

Bright red berries are valued not only for sweet and sour taste, but also a large amount of vitamins, as well as special medicinal properties. Most of the townsfolk buy cranberries on the market or in stores. And only a few know where cranberries grow, and even had the good fortune to collect it with their own hands.

If we talk about how growing lingonberries, then the plant is an evergreen shrub, reaching a height of 20-25 cm and covered with leathery leaves of ovoid form.

In the wild, a cold-resistant plant is preferred to "settle" in regions with cool summers and severe winters. And the soil chooses poor, sour. It's amazing that low shrubs can compete in durability with oaks: they live almost up to 300 years. If we talk about the regions, then you can meet the thickets of red berries in North America, Asia, Central and Northern Europe.

The area of ​​the bush is peat bogs, thickets of shrubs and alpine meadows. In addition, many cranberries grow in the forest. The environment of its habitat can be coniferous pine forests (pine, larch, fur-tree), deciduous or mixed forests.

As for where cranberries grow in Russia, they are mostly plains and mountain belts of the taiga of the Altai and the Far East, and coniferous forests. Moreover, sometimes in the forest-tundra and tundra, whole sour-sweet berries are found. A useful plant reached the cold shores of the Arctic Ocean. Also, cranberries grow in the harsh conditions of the Urals, in the mountainous regions of the Caucasus, in the Arkhangelsk or Murmansk regions, and also in Karelia.
