Yellow body

Every woman needs to know how her body functions. Often doctors, diagnosed, do not explain it. And many women are frightened when they read the entry: "The yellow body is found." But in fact, this is a normal state of the female body. The yellow body forms in the middle of the cycle and prepares the uterine cavity for the onset of pregnancy. If fertilization does not occur, it will atrophy.

The phase of the yellow body - what is it?

It depends on her offensive and the normal course of pregnancy. The phase lasts about two weeks, during which time the gland grows and actively releases the female hormones estrogen and progesterone, preparing the uterus for the introduction of a fertilized egg. If pregnancy occurs, then the life of the yellow body is prolonged until 16 weeks before the placenta.

There are four stages of development of this gland:

  1. From the granular cells of the follicle, after the ovulation, the yellow body begins to grow.
  2. Then comes the stage of vascularization, when lutein cells and carotene accumulate in the gland, which give it a characteristic color.
  3. Further, the yellow body rises, it actively releases progesterone and grows. If pregnancy occurs, it regulates hormone levels and creates a favorable environment in the uterus. Such a yellow body is called true.
  4. The last stage of the development of the gland is its dying. It decreases in size, ceases to produce hormones and atrophies.

The yellow body and its meaning

Its main function is the enhanced production of progesterone. He prepares the uterus to take the oocyte: it increases the number of blood vessels, the surface becomes more friable and less sensitive. When a yellow body appears, a woman grows a little breast and immunity decreases. This gland blocks the formation of new eggs so that they do not interfere with the onset of pregnancy. When the yellow body is formed, this means that the woman's body is ready for the fertilization of the egg and the development of the fetus. But in some cases, pathologies are observed in the work of this gland.

Diseases associated with the yellow body

The most common is the gland cyst. It is determined by ultrasound examination. The size of the yellow body should normally be between 10 and 30 millimeters, and if the gland is enlarged, it is the cyst. Sometimes this education resolves without any intervention for a couple of months. It is desirable for a woman to limit physical activity and sexual contacts so that she does not break. In addition, with the appearance of discomfort and pain in the abdomen, anti-ovulation therapy may be prescribed.

But it is much more dangerous for a woman to have a yellow body in the ovary. This can lead to infertility, and in case of fertilization - to miscarriage. For the normal course of pregnancy, ovulation and the formation of the yellow body must go through all the stages, and it should develop at least 10 days. Only then in normal quantities will progesterone be produced.

The diagnosis of deficiency of the functions of the yellow body is posed after a comprehensive examination: blood tests, ultrasound and baseline temperature measurements over several cycles. After confirming it, the woman is prescribed hormonal preparations, for example, Urozhestan or Dufaston. Sometimes injections of progesterone are also prescribed. The doctor should find out why the yellow body does not form. Since it often occurs in genetic diseases, disorders of the functions of the ovaries or some other diseases. And the treatment in this case should be different.
